On Titles and Beginnings

“The beginning is the most important part of the work.”
                                                                                                 ― PlatoThe Republic

Funny how I decided to start my first blog post with a quote by some Greek dude (Thanks for the picture, Google.)  I'm barely familiar with. Oh well, I think it makes for a better segue than anything else I would have written. There you go Plato! Your words have been granted the honor of being the most important part of this work - the beginning of my blog's beginning.

I suppose I should get down to business then.

Hello, I'm Kelsey, a complete amateur at blogging. I wanted to try something that would help my creative juices flow every once in a while, although I highly doubt that people will ever witness their flowing. Despite the lack of audience, I still hope that I can find it in myself to continue this, so that I can have documentation of my awkward precious teenage self. But considering my history with journal/diary-keeping, that prospect seems to be a negative.

You're probably wondering why the title of my online journal is as such. It was (predictably) pretty hard for me to pick a name for something so personal, yet something that could be seen by others in the future. I ended up going with an ironic statement that expressed my reasons for blogging. To explain this, here's the definition of the phrase in limbo by thefreedictionary.com:

lim·bo 1
n. pl. lim·bos
1. often Limbo Roman Catholic Church The abode of unbaptized but innocent or righteous souls, as those of infants or virtuous individuals who lived before the coming of Christ.
2. A region or condition of oblivion or neglect: Management kept her promotion in limbo for months.
3. A state or place of confinement.
4. An intermediate place or state

No, not that kind of limbo

Most of the time, my ideas stay trapped in my head because of fear to voice them out or laziness to act on them. They eventually disappear altogether without ever being made into something worthwhile.

As I've said earlier, this blog will hopefully allow me to flex my creative muscles and manifest ideas in writing,  Ta-da! A sort-of irony right there, since my ideas, as long as they're on my blog, are not in limbo anymore.

This has turned out to be quite a long post already, so I think I'll stop around here. Cheers to putting up with my writing and amateurish introductions!

                                                                                 Until my next post,
